The conference is located at the CVI Building in Ferndale. It begins at 8:00 a.m. with registration and a light breakfast. The program starts promptly at 9:00 a.m. and continues until 1:00 p.m. All are welcome. There is no registration fee for this conference.
This is the tenth year that volunteers have been planting flowers and cleaning up their communities throughout Sullivan County. The conference will outline the new 2010 Sullivan Renaissance grant program and applications will be available. It will feature exhibits and workshops highlighting the significance of flowers in beautifying a community, community gardens, rain barrels, youth leadership and economic development.
The keynote address and two of the workshops will be led by C.L. Fornari, a gardening expert, author and professional speaker who believes that the lessons learned in the garden are relevant to work, relationships, spirituality and personal growth.
The Sullivan First Achievement Awards will be presented to nine individuals, businesses and organizations that have worked to enhance the appearance of Sullivan County. Door prizes will be awarded at the conference conclusion.
Sullivan Renaissance is a beautification and community development program principally funded by the Gerry Foundation. Additional funding has been secured by NYS Senator John J. Bonacic and Assemblywoman Aileen M. Gunther.
