[FERNDALE] –Sullivan Renaissance, in partnership with the Sullivan County Center for Workforce Development, will hire several seasonal Project Assistants to work with community volunteers on Renaissance projects this summer. Formerly called “Interns”, the Project Assistants will also participate in a series of youth development meetings and adopt a Day of Service Project. Salaries start at $10.50 per hour.

Sullivan Renaissance Project Assistants will help with watering, mulching, fertilizing, weeding, dead-heading of plants, and related activities. A day of service is integrated into the program along with opportunities to discuss a variety of topics presented by professionals, community leaders and volunteers from diverse backgrounds. Project Assistants will be trained as community ambassadors and will learn skills in public speaking, work readiness and project management.
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers who help with Sullivan Renaissance projects are eligible to apply for college scholarships. Through a donor advised fund, The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan Counties offers a limited number of scholarships to Sullivan County residents who make a significant volunteer contribution to a 2017 Renaissance project. The SUNY Sullivan Foundation awards scholarships of $1500 to full-time students who volunteer in 2017 Renaissance projects.
