[FERNDALE] –Sullivan Renaissance will host a planning seminar on “The Fundamentals of Sign Design” on Wednesday, December 6 at 6:00 p.m. at the CVI Center in Ferndale. The seminar will include information on design principles that go into making signs that get the message across, are attractive and complement a community’s character.
“Signs are found throughout every community,” explained Community Planner Helen Budrock. “Well designed, well placed signage will attract customers and make a lasting first impression.”
Using local examples, guest speaker and graphic designer Dorene Warner will lead an interactive discussion about branding, the effective use of colors and lettering, sign shapes and materials, and how to make a bad sign better. Warner has been the Creative Director of the Barryville based consulting firm W Design since 1994. She is a founding member of the Greater Barryville Chamber of Commerce, a co-founder of the annual PumpkinFest, and has partnered with Sullivan Renaissance on several design projects, including signs and brochures.
It is not necessary to be enrolled in a Sullivan Renaissance project or be part of a town planning or zoning board to benefit from this seminar. Planning and Zoning Board members will receive a certificate of completion for continuing education credit, but everyone is welcome.
Pre-registration is requested and refreshments will be served. To register, visit SullivanRenaissance.org or call the Sullivan Renaissance office at 845-295-2445. Event details can also be found on the Sullivan Renaissance Facebook and Twitter pages.
