The Basics

The Basics movement includes five science-based, fun, simple ways to support children's social, emotional, and cognitive development from birth to age 3.

Science shows that 80% of brain growth happens by the age of three. From birth, young brains develop like little muscles, getting bigger and stronger the more you and your family interact with your child.

The principles learned in this training include: maximizing love, managing stress, talking, singing and pointing; counting, grouping and comparing; exploring through movement and play; and reading and discussing stories.

Parents, caregivers, family members, childcare providers, hospital and school staff members, and others are encouraged to take this training.
